  • Dr. Dennis R Wood, DVM

    Veterinarian

    Dennis Raymond Wood was born in Lancaster, California , he is the second to the oldest of ten children. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1975 from the University of California ,Davis in Zoology/Wildlife biology, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.

    He received his Veterinary degree in 1980 from the University of California, Davis, graduating Phi Zeta.

    He married Elizabeth "Becky" Sleeper in September 1979. Together they purchased the bankrupt veterinary hospital ,then named Northcrest Veterinary Clinic in 1982. Dr. Wood and Becky worked tirelessly to achieve American Animal Hospital Accreditation in 1991. After a major hospital expansion and remodel, All Creatures Animal Hospital and Bird Clinic was named 1996 Veterinary Hospital of the Year: First Runner-Up for North America.

    Dr.Wood was voted Young Man of the Year-Del Norte County in 1986.He was an active member on the founding board of the Del Norte Humane Society.

    Dr.Wood has provided wildlife care for thousands of injured and ill wild animals from Del Norte,  Humboldt and Curry counties on a pro-bono basis, including raptors, shore birds,deer, bear and cougar cubs, beaver, otters, turtles...

    Together with David Edgar and Charles Tweed ,he founded the Northcoast Marine Mammal Center in 1984. Dr.Wood has served continuously as the Medical Director/Veterinarian in a volunteer status since the NMMC's  inception. Dr.Wood  and the NMMC are part of the National Marine Fisheries Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Network. Dr. Wood participates regularly in continuing education regarding marine mammal health and rehabilitation. In the past ten years Dr.Wod has had an active role in large whale disentanglement off the coast of Del Norte and Humboldt counties. He is now a member of the Large Whale disentanglement Network, and has under gone extensive training in Maui, Bodega Bay and Monterey Bay.

    Management
    Becky holds a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from U.C.Davis. She has extensive training in Hospital Management and over 30 years of experience.

  • Mrs. Susan Lytwynec

    Groomer

    Sue has been grooming dogs professionally since 1975 and owned her own grooming business in Highland California for 20 years.  She earned a Bachelor's degree in Zoology from Cal Poly, Pomona in 1980.  Sue trains and competes in Canine Agility and Obedience with her 2 Border Collies, her Papillon and her Borzoi, and teaches basic obedience classes and agility classes in conjunction with the Oregon Coast Kennel Club in Brookings.

    Technician

    KelliNicole joined the All Creatures Animal Hospital team in July of 2012. She lives in Crescent City with her boyfriend, Ryan, and two dogs, two cats, and ten chickens. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). When KelliNicole is not working she enjoys hiking, gardening, riding ATVs, and spending time with family.

  • Jessie Weldon

    Assistant
    Jessie was born and raised in Del Norte County. She graduated from Del Norte High School and currently attends San Juan College. She joined the team at All Creatures Animal Hospital in October 2014. She is great with patients and their owners. When she's not working she volunteers at the North Coast Marine Mammal Center. She enjoys hiking, being with friends and family. She is a lover of animals and the outdoors.

  • Ann Herber

    Receptionist
    Ann moved from Colorado to California in 2016. With a history of being a CNA and owning a lawn maintenance business she decided to make a change.She joined the All Creatures Animal Hospital in 2017 as a receptionist.  If she isn't tending to her chickens, she is working in her garden or spending time with family.

  • Angela Ordway

    Receptionist
    Angela moved from eastern Washington in 2013 to fulfill a life long dream of living near the ocean. Previously, she worked as an office manger in the construction industry for 15 years. Angela joined the All Creatures Animal Hospital team in September of 2015 combining her experience in office administration with her love of animals. In her free time she enjoys combing the beaches for agates and other treasures. She also enjoys making homemade soaps , and spending time with family, friends and her three old pomchi, Rozzie.
